Recipe Notes:BS info: OG=1.044, FG= 1.011, IBU=13.,3, ABV=4.3did this on Beer Smith using the 3-gallon brew, it turned out great while using the 5.5 gallon with 5 gallon in fermenter. The Hops are a bit high here but maybe because the AA were 4% instead of 5% but I can't change that here. the brewhouse efficiency is 80%. this is the 3 gallon I did: in 5-gallon igloo cooler 1/21/26: Started heating water 8:10// 8:20 Added grains minus the 120 and barley:// BeerSmith called for 2.56 gallons of mash water and that seemed a bit much. / Mashing in at 152 for 60 minutes. // Temp to high at 153 now laving top off to cool// Also Stopped recirculating// Got it down to 152, Put lid back on letting it sit. also moved temp prob to HLT instead of Mash tun.// temp down to 147, Rasing temp to 153// ( Temp seems to not hold on the Igloo cooler) / 8:58 checking PH=5.58 adding just a little Lactic// /added .5 ml of lactic Ph=5.43 Gravity=1.057// with probe in HLT it seems to be holding pretty good/ stopped recycling, only will turn on to adjust water temp PH// 9:17 added dark grains// 9:27 ezboil started mash out at 168// Sparging now may have started at 9:45?//10;10 finished sparge with 4 gallons of wort in Boil pot.// Sparge was only 40 minutes long// Boil started at 10:45// boil started real strong I turned it down to 40%// Boiling for 60 minutes//Ph high at 5.53,, added .5 ml of lactic// with 4 gallons of wort iin boil pot the Gravity=1.020// 10;35 Ph=5.25 Gravity=1.037// Fermenting in the 3-gallon plastic Spidel // Boiling down to 3 gallon in boil pot.// Finished Boil 11;20// Got 2.75 gallon in Fermenter// Temp in Fermenter = 61, going into box to ferment at 67// OG=1.052// FG=1.010, ABV=5.5// Leave a Comment |
